Sometimes I get in such a hurry that I forget to slow down and enjoy the moment. Most of you know that I still have an off-the-farm job, and so weekday mornings are usually very busy as I work to get chores done before getting cleaned up and heading to town. If I happen to get a late start and get behind, I can easily become agitated at just any little thing: the four-wheeler won’t start, or the fence charger battery is dead, or a water line leaks. Those are all little things, but when I’m in a hurry, they seem like big things. As a consequence, I loose my joy. When that happens, I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy every moment. Farming is a lifestyle with many, many benefits, and I am grateful to have the opportunity.  I took this photo Wednesday evening after the storms moved through (we got some much-needed rain). The kids and I went outside and watched as the clouds and the setting sun put on an amazing show. That amazing sunset reminded me to slow down and enjoy the simple things.
