I like lists. Good lists seem to be the only way I get anything done. I have a work lists, I have farm project lists, I have Tractor Supply lists, I have honey-do lists and so on.
The Apostle Paul is known for his lengthy statements that are always filled with doctrinal truth. What we see in these verses and the ones that follow is almost like a bullet-point list.
Last week we studied Paul’s description of the communion of the saints that is built on humility among the body of Christ and the use of spiritual gifts. Now Paul offers this list of what Dr. RC Sproul calls “ethical injunctions which we are to manifest in the Christian life.” So this list should describe the body of Christ. The section heading reads “Behave like a Christian” and that’s a good title.
